What is VR Frontier ?

VR Frontier is more of a concept than anything else. The idea is to try to 3D or Web 3D (via VRML), some of the images and shapes within Frontier / Elite and make these available to the average visitor. While initial efforts may be towards static sets, the advanced goal is to incorporate advanced user interactivity. In this position; VR Frontier efforts might not only inspire (perhaps to the point of some creative writing), but would also expose visitors to a new format of web experiences.

A first attempt of VR Frontier was the Pilot's Lounge VHSB Space (1 meg - which you can download here). While not a web application, the Pilot's Lounge VHSB Space is more of a small example of what can be done with programs like VHSB. It can also be run while you are running other applications, such as your browser... as it supplies midi tunes.

The primary goal of VR Frontier at Planetmic.com is as a catalyst to move on from direct Frontier / Elite support type projects and pages towards VRML based projects with perhaps subject matter focused at Frontier, Elite, space flight, or other Sci-Fi themes.
